Zinc amino acid chelate

(Supplement: 1,100 mg/kg - equals 4 mg zinc in organic combination per 10 kg of the dog's weight when given as recommended). Zinc is a constituent in various enzyme systems. A deficiency is shown by scabby, cracked skin (parakeratosis), pigment lightening and loss of fur. Giving zinc to dogs with dermatosis has been proven to have positive effects on the health of the skin and fur. Four to five times as much of the zinc amino acid chelate is absorbed when given as an organic zinc compound than when given from inorganic sources.

Biotin

(Supplement: 830,000 mcg/kg - equals 3,000 mcg per 10 kg of the dog's weight when given as recommended). 

Biotin (vitamin H) is essential for the synthesis of keratin, the basic substance of skin epithelia, fur and claws. A deficiency is shown by premature greying, dull, dry fur, fragile fur, scaliness, secondary inflammation with scabbiness, itching.

A healthy dog will get most of his biotin from microbial synthesis in the large intestine. However, improvements were very quickly seen in dogs with the above skin and fur problems after giving them a high concentration of a biotin supplement.

Omega-3 fatty acids

(Supplement: Special fish oil concentrate with an extra high content of the omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid, EPA 20:5 ω3, and docosahexaenoic acid, DHA 22:6 ω3).

The high content of omega-3 fatty acids is suitable for narrowing the usually wide ratio between omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids in food. This naturally regulates the body's reaction to inflammation. A targeted dietary supplement of omega-3 fatty acids is therefore recommended for the treatment of dogs with inflammatory skin reactions and to improve the quality and shine of a dog's fur.

Brewer's yeast

• vitamin B complex (brewer's yeast is the basic ingredient with the highest natural vitamin C content)
