CaniAgil® Tabs support the tissue, cartilage and joints with the following combination of active ingredients:

freeze-dried pure extract of perna canaliculus

(New Zealand green-lipped mussel)

(Supplement: 15% pure mussel extract - equals 0.6 g per 10 kg of the dog's weight when given as recommended).

The New Zealand green-lipped mussel (perna canaliculus) contains a natural complex of active ingredients consisting of glucosamine glycans (GAGs), special omega-3 fatty acids (including eicosatetraenoic acid, ETA 20: 4 ω3), amino acids (including glutamine for cartilage construction), trace elements (zinc, copper, manganese) and natural antioxidants. In scientific studies involving dogs who were given 0.45 g / 10 kg body mass, it was found to have positive effects on the symptoms of arthritis (Bierer & Bui, 2002). After giving perna canaliculus there was a reduction in pain, less joint stiffness and quicker recovery after activity. This positive effect cannot be due to a single isolated substance in the mussel - e.g. the GAGs as the supplier of important constituents for the cartilage - but rather to the totality of the complex of active ingredients in perna canaliculus. Particular importance has recently been given to eicosatetraenoic acid (ETA), which is found in the mussel extract in particular, for its anti-inflammatory properties. The benefits of feeding whole, pure mussel extract to support the tissue, cartilage and joints are therefore far greater than that of the much less expensive dried mussel powder or of adding isolated substances such as chondroitin sulphate and glucosamine.

Omega-3 fatty acids

(Supplement: Special fish oil concentrate with an extra high content of the omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid, EPA 20:5 ω3, and docosahexaenoic acid, DHA 22:6 ω3).

Devil’s claw

The herb from the thick root of South African devil's claw is a well-known natural product that offers complex, positive help with joint problems. As with many herbal products, the total complex is more effective than the isolated ingredients. Devil's claw contains various natural bitters and flavonoids which support the cartilage metabolism and promote mobility in cases of joint problems.

Vitamin E

(Supplement: 5,500 mg/kg - equals 20 mg vitamin E per 10 kg weight of the dog when given as recommended)

Vitamin E plays a main role in protecting unsaturated fatty acids (omega-3 fatty acids) and cartilage cells against oxidation by free radicals. They are present in large quantities in inflammatory processes in particular. Vitamin E is important for maintaining and stabilising the membranes, especially of the skeletal musculature. This way it supports the construction of muscle tissue to stabilise the joints.

Vitamin C

(Supplement: 2,750 mg/kg - equals 10 mg Vitamin C per 10 kg weight of the dog when given as recommended)

Vitamin C is extremely important in collagen synthesis. Under stress conditions (e.g. joint pain), the dog's own vitamin C synthesis may not be sufficient. Giving a vitamin C supplement to a dog with joint problems will support the construction of collagen and aid joint and cartilage stability. Furthermore, vitamin C is also an antioxidant, so it protects cartilage cells against free radicals.

Essential amino acids

support protein metabolism, the optimum function of which is essential for muscle and cartilage metabolism.
